- CO2 LASER AT ACADEMY LASER CLINICS
Academy Laser Clinic specialises in state of the art laser treatments, including CO2 laser resurfacing, the gold standard in anti aging and skin rejuvenation treatments.
This a powerful and advanced technology can be customised for nearly every skin type and condition and is used to combat the signs of ageing, sun, acne and busy lifestyles that are not kind to our skin.
Fractionated CO2 Dot laser works by delivering thousands of tiny microbeams (DOTs) that penetrate the skin and trigger a natural healing process which forms new healthy collagen.
THE TREATMENT PROCESS
The first step is the initial consultation where the doctors assess the patient’s skin to determine and advise the patient on the best treatment plan.
Pre treatment a topical retinoid acid or skin lightening cream can help prepare the skin.
Around half an hour to an hour before the treatment begins a numbing cream is applied. Depending on the area and condition being treated the treatment takes between 10 minutes to an hour. Most patients opt to apply topical PRP post-CO2 DOT Laser to help stimulate collagen production and faster healing.
A post treatment care plan involves Statacel gel for a few days followed by QV moisturiser until healed. Never pick at the area as there is an increase risk of scarring. Patients should avoid direct sunlight and active sun creams until the skin is fully healed. Cold packs may be applied to relieve and help dissipate the heat.
Skin tightening and clarity are observed immediately following recovery but the full results take up to 6 months with the remodelling of new collagen continuing for up to year.
To maintain good results it is possible to have a refresher CO2 DOT treatment every year or so.
- IMPOTENT AT CALIBRE CLINIC
About half of all men aged between 40 and 65 years will suffer from some level of erectile dysfunction at different stages in their lives, including being impotent. This is a very common condition and apart from the inevitable aging of penile tissue, there are other factors that can trigger impotence or erectile dysfunction symptoms at a younger age. These include illness such as diabetes, injury or surgery, drug side-effects and smoking.
Calibre offers a PRP procedure to provide a solution to erection problems. Using substances already found in the body to trigger repair and regeneration of tissue and vessels in the penis this enhances blood flow and nerve sensitivity thereby helping the patient to achieve and maintain a normal healthy erection. Because the PRP Procedure also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin there’s the added benefit of rejuvenating the cosmetic appearance of the penis’ skin.
ABOUT THE PROCEDURE
The first step is the initial confidential Doctor consultation. This is the most important aspect of the procedure as it identifies the cause of the problems and to ensure the patient receives the correct treatment, as well as to discuss realistic expectations and raise any questions or concerns prior to treatment.
The initial process of the procedure takes around 20 minutes and is a small extraction of blood, which is then centrifuged. This separates and extracts the required components, including platelets and monocytes.
The next part of the procedure takes around 10 minutes. An anesthetic cream will be used to numb the penis and the concentrated PRP is injected into the areas of the penis which are most important for blood flow. Patients experience some swelling and inflammation during the treatment, which is expected and will subside with 1-2 days.
Post treatment, the area may be swollen for up to 48 hours but will reduce as the fluid is reabsorbed into the body. A little bruising and tenderness is normal.
Make sure the area is kept clean for a week and you refrain from sexual activity and strenuous activity for the first 3 days after your treatment.
The majority of patients will see that the skin of the penis looks more hydrated within the first week from treatment, and tissue regeneration will start after about 3-4 weeks. Several sessions may be arranged 4-8 weeks apart.
The results of the PRP Procedure remain noticeable for about 12-15 months. A yearly top up session is recommended so that the benefits of PRP can continue to be enjoyed.
The overall results may vary among patients depending on individual circumstances.
- RHINOPLASTY AT ACADEMY FACE AND BODY
One of the most common cosmetic surgical procedures is a nose job, known in the medical world as rhinoplasty. This surgery involves the reshaping of the nose, with the aim of creating a natural looking nose, that sits in balance with the rest of the face. This surgery is suitable for anyone who has concerns regarding the shape or size of their nose, who has suffered trauma to their nose or may have airway problems.
HOW THE PROCEDURE WORKS
The first step is an initial confidential consultation with the doctor who will be performing the procedure.
The surgeons perform the procedure either in hospital under general anaesthetic or under twilight sedation in our government licensed Academy Day Hospital.
In the majority of cases all incisions are hidden within the nose. The skin is elevated and the underlying bone and cartilage sculpted as necessary. Allowing the removal of a hump, narrowing a broad nose, straightening a deviated nose, refinement of the tip and changing the angle of the nose to the lip.
Straight after the surgery a splint is applied to the external nose for protection and to reduce swelling, and will remain on the nose for a week.
After the operation the inside of the nose clean needs to be kept clean with the saline solution. The more times per day the saline wash is used the better.
Recovery from this surgery generally takes several weeks.
Swelling and bruising around the eyes is expected which should subside in 5-10 days following a nose job. Swelling on the inside of the nose makes it feel blocked and may last for 1-2 weeks. Use to saline spray provided to wash out your nose and reduce blockage.
Significant improvements can be seen after two weeks and subtle refinement continues for a further year.
Results may vary from person to person.
